Belarusian Uladzimir Izotau sets record and wins gold medal at Rio Paralympics

The Belarusian team already has seven medals.

Uladzimir Izotau has won the gold medal at the Paralympic Games 2016 in Rio, becoming swimming champion in the 100m breaststroke in ‘SB12’ category.

In the final swim the Belarusian clocked 1 minute 6.82 seconds renewing his own record at Paralympics established 4 years ago in London. At the same time, the world record set in 2014 by Ukrainian Alexey Fedin survived.

This was the first gold of the 28-year-old Uladzimir Izotau at the Rio Paralympics.

A few hours before Izotau’s performance, Belarusian team received another gold by a wheelchair fencer Andrei Pranevich. The video of his performance is below:

Earlier, three gold medals and one bronze medal were won by the swimmer Ihar Bokiy, another bronze was gained by the javelin thrower Alyaksandr Tryputsya.
