Belarus to pay for oil and gas in Russian rubles

Russia and Belarus have started the work on approval of the draft treaty, which provides for the use of Russian rubles in payments for oil and gas supplies.

It was reported by TASS with reference to Deputy Energy Minister of Belarus Vadzim Zakreuski.

“There are no exact date of negotiations, but there is a draft agreement, which provides for it (transition to payments in rubles). It is now under approval in the Russian Federation,” he said on the sidelines of the Ministerial Conference on the Sustainable Development of Energy held in Astana.

The Deputy Minister added that the transition could be realized before the end of this year.
