Belarus state youth activists collecting money for military festival

For sixth years in a row, on the anniversary of the Nazi Germany attack on the Soviet Union, Brest authorities stage a show. While earlier it was all publicly funded, now the organizers are forced to seek funding from residents of Brest and on the Internet.

For three weeks now several people have been trying to raise money for the “June 22, 1941 – Brest Fortress” festival on crowdfunding sites. They plan to collect a minimum of $ 2,500, but so far have managed to collect only $ 130.

The project was inspired by Pyotr Pitsko — the second secretary of the Brest city branch of the Belarusian Republican Youth Union, an outspoken opponent of all national, but an ardent supporter of the revival of the Soviet Union.

This time, the authorities are planning an exhibition of military equipment and a theatrical performance of heavy machinery, as well as a military reconstruction. Pitsko and his colleagues plan to raise the spirit of patriotism, just not for Belarus. According to the organizers, their goal is to gather in Brest 40,000 people to create a positive image of the Union State of Russia and Belarus.
