Belarus, Russia building nuclear power plant of the future - Lukashenka


By constructing the Belarusian NPP in Astravets, Belarus and Russia want to present an example of a nuclear power plant of the future, president Lukashenka said at a meeting to discuss the training of the personnel for the nuclear power industry on Monday.

“The world’s best nuclear power plant is being built. And Russia, together with us, wants to show what kind of nuclear power plants should be in the future,” state-run news agency BelTA qutes Lukashenka as saying.

According to the president, the first power-generating unit is scheduled for commissioning in 2018, the second one – in 2020. “I hope you are not going to ask me – or maybe, another president – to extend the deadline in 2018,” Lukashenka stressed.
