Belarus most visited CIS country by Russians in 2015


Belarus is the most visited country in the Commonwealth of Independent States by Russian tourists in 2015, state-run news agency BelTA reports with reference to Russian online travel service Travel.ru.

The number of bookings by Russian tourists in Belarus has ballooned by 60% from 2014. This year, Russians spend the average of four and a half days in Belarus paying $70 per day for hotel accommodation.

The ranking is based on the number of hotel bookings made in the countries of the CIS by Russian tourists travelling independently in 2015. Belarus accounts for 37% of the total number of tourist trips placing first among the top five most visited CIS states. Ukraine ranks second with 22% and is followed by Kazakhstan (16%), Azerbaijan (9%), and Armenia (7%).

The most popular Belarusian cities for Russian tourists are Minsk and Vitsebsk. As for the most popular resorts, the Belarusian Lake Narach ranks second.
