Belarus MFA: Sending peacekeeping mission to Syria not on agenda of CSTO session in Minsk

A Russia Today journalist asked the spokesman for the Belarusian Foreign Ministry Dzmitry Mironchyk whether the issue of sending a peacekeeping mission to Syria would be discussed at the Collective Security Treaty Organization session in Minsk.

According to the Belarusian diplomat, the issue is not on the agenda of the upcoming event.

The Belarusian capital will host the session of the CSTO in November.

In early October, Combat Brotherhood, a large-scale military exercise of the CSTO countries, kicked off in Russia’s Rostov region. About 12,000 troops from Russia, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan were involved in the maneuvers. According to the Russian newspaper Nezavisimaya Gazeta, the CSTO is preparing for a peacekeeping mission in Syria.
