Belarus KGB contributes to preventing terrorist attacks at home and abroad - Lukashenka

The Belarusian State Security Committee (KGB) is working hand in glove with their Russian colleagues, president Alyaksandr Lukashenka said on Friday’s event to mark the 100th anniversary since the establishment of state security agencies in the country.

“I should note that many modern threats can be overcome only through joint efforts. Belarus’ KGB promotes practical interaction with the relevant agencies of dozens of countries, primarily with Russia, ex-USSR republics, and other countries across the globe. The high level of partnership allows successfully arranging joint events. Information shared by our officers has helped prevent a number of attempts to stage terrorist attacks in Russia, some European countries and in Belarus,” state-run news agency BelTA quotes Lukashenka.

As the world resembles a ‘troubled ant heap’, war on terrorism is one of the key tasks for the security service, he believes.

“Refugees come in flocks across borders; there are undercover fanatics, who are ready to kill civilians and sow chaos, among them. Members of international terrorist organizations are regularly extracted from the transit traffic in Belarus,” Lukashenka stated.
