Belarus hoping to sell tractors to poorest country in Africa

The Guinea delegation has visited Minsk Tractor Works. “They were amazed at the level of Belarus industry development,” said Belarus Foreign Minister Uladzimir Makey.

Today, Foreign Ministers of Guinea and Belarus signed an agreement on regular diplomatic consultations – the first document in the history of bilateral relations between our countries.

“You know, maybe some “experts” of politics and economics will complain about our new partners. Some of them say that Guinea is one of the poorest countries in Africa, and there are no real prospects … I have a totally different opinion about it. For some reason, Australia, China, France, USA, UAE are actively cooperating with the country ,” said Uladzimir Makey.

Majority of the Guinea population – about 76% – are employed in agriculture. The country has about 6 million hectares of agricultural land, of which only 10% are processed. According to Mr Makey, Guinea is in dire need of agricultural machinery.
