Belarus further profiting from Russian embargo

Our country confirms the status of the “main beneficiary” of the food embargo imposed by Russia against a number of countries, ej.by reports.

Belarus is the only state that began to sell more beef to Russia in the first half of the year. Belarus share in the structure of supply has increased from 70% to 90%.

Against the background of general decline in imports of frozen, Belarusian deliveries rose to 8% (55% in the Russian imports comes from Brazil, 33% – from Paraguay).

For more than a third increased the import of Belarusian cheese and cottage cheese. In the structure of supply they accounted for 75%. The total imports of cheese and cottage cheese into Russia was reduced by 46%. For example, EU countries have reduced supply by 14 times, and their share in total imports dropped to 10%.

Russia has also reduced the import of butter. But Belarus and Uruguay increased the supply of butter to Russia.

Russian reduced supply of apples and pears (20%), grapes (by a third). Nevertheless, Belarus is a winner here as well, increasing the amount of supply of its fruit. For example, 2.5 times more apples and pears were delivered from Belarus to Russia last year. It should be noted that our domestic suppliers quadrupled delivery of watermelons and cantaloupes. However, the export volume of these “non-core” products for Belarus is negligible.
