Belarus and 'Rosatom' discussed launch of Belarusian NPP


At the “Atomexpo” forum in Moscow, Belarus Vice Premier Uladzimir Syamashka and CEO of the “Rosatom” corporation Alexei Likhachev discussed the joint work on the launch of the first Belarusian nuclear power plant scheduled for 2019.

The second unit of the Belarusian NPP will be commissioned in 2020, BelTA reports citing Mr Syamashka. The capacity of each unit is 1,200 MW.

“At today’s meeting we discussed the work on commissioning the units in the set time frame. We agreed that it is necessary to strengthen the work on the first unit,” said Belarusian Deputy Prime Minister.

In the near future there will be a meeting in the Astravets headquarters with the participation of the Russian side. There will be discussed the terms of the equipment supply, construction progress, work on the key facilities of the nuclear power plant.
