Era over: Belarusian Railways may remove sleeping cars from domestic routes

The state-owned Belarusian Railways company has announced its intention to drastically change the domestic system of the carriage of passengers.

“We are planning to completely change the logistics of passenger carriage in the country. We are not so large country to carry passenges in sleeping cars,” news agency Interfax quotes Andrey Kashko, a representative of Belarusian Railways.

 According to Kashko, in order to come closer to the European standards of passenger carrying operations, the company is set to increase the speed of rail transport and buy new modern trains.

Their plans to develop rail transport provide for the purchase of electric vehicles by Stadler or other manufacturers, Kashko stressed.
