Barys, Dzima, Larysa: Belarusian response to Barbie and Ken

A Belarusian company has released a series of dolls of 12 professions, e.g. police officer, rescuer, nurse. All models were developed at BelLyalka enterprise.

“These dolls are interesting not only for children, they also may be a gift for adults who are employed in corresponding fields,” the producer’s website says.

The company opted for appealing to the traditions of the 1980s, when such dolls started to be made in the USSR.

Barys: cook, sailor and traffic policeman

The whiskered Barys doll has 5 professions while barefaced Dzima can boast of only two – rescuer or builder.
