Armed Donbas fighter detained in Minsk, explosives found - investigators

When arrested, the man who allegedly took part in fighting in the east of Ukraine was behaving ‘inappropriately’, Ivan Naskevich, Head of the Belarusian Investigative Committee, said on Thursday.

“Overnight [into Thursday] a young man was detained at Minsk railway station. He had two passports, arms, explosives and documents confirming his participation in combat operations in the territory of Ukraine”, Naskevich said.

The top official failed to specify for which side the detainee was fighting for.

Earlier, Belarus’ Interior Minister Ihar Shunevich promised that the security agency would deal with Belarusians fighting in Ukraine and added that they had files for two dozen ‘mercenaries’.
