Antibiotics in condensed milk may cause dismissal of 2,500 people

Quality inspection of production at Rahachou Dairy Plant may end with ban on the sale of cheese, milk and condensed milk of this company in the territory of Russia, former activist of the civil campaign “Tell the Truth”, vrogacheve.ru editor-in-chief Dzyanis Dashkevich told belsat.eu.

“On October 19, inspectors from the Russian Federation (Rosselkhoznadzor) found antibiotics in the producs of the enterprise, said Dzyanis Dashkevich. My source said that a few hundred tons of products sent to Russia were returned to the enterprise. So far there has been no official confirmation of the information about the ban on the import of the plant’s products in Russia. I also became aware that antibiotics were added not by the plant staff, but by the suppliers of raw materials (milk powder- Belsat.eu). The agricultural enterprises that supplied raw materials had problems with sales. For the raw material not to spoil, they added antibiotics,” said the reporter, referring to a reliable source of information.

According to Dashkevich, 2,500 people can lose their jobs, as the ban on sale in Russia puts an end to the profitability of the plant.

“They are closing the new dairy section. After a new director with a dubious past appearing at the plant, the problems with the distributors arose prompting falling sales. In May, about 300 people were laid off. Later, 200 more left “voluntarily.” And now this scandal with antibiotics. People are nervous. They are ready to take to the streets,” said Dzyanis Dashkevich.

“The corruption in the rayon is terrible. The former head of the district executive committee Syarhei Yakauleu is in prison. So is his predecessor. In mid-October, one of the top managers was accused of bribery and kickbacks. Two weeks ago, the local director of “Vysokaye” plant was arrested on charges of corruption. There are weekly arrests. Come here with cameras and show how people live here,” asked Dashkevich.
