Another Belarusian suing tax authority over parasite tax

Syarhei Sivadzedau

The 29-year-old Syarhei Sivadzedau, a village resident, is suing the Belarusian tax office, because he does not consider himself a “parasite”.

The young man is working on the land and like many Belarusians had received the so-called “social parasite letter”. Syarhei was not taken aback, and just like the Homiel resident Alyaksasndr Syamenau filed a lawsuit against the tax office of the Kamyanets district.  Sivadzedau wants the court to acknowledge that he was not a “social parasite” and should not have to pay the relevant tax.

The young man believes that the court will be on his side and will exempt him from the tax, just like it did in the case of the Homiel resident Alyaksandr Syamionau, who had filed a lawsuit against the tax office.
