Curator of “Signal” street art project Aleh Larychau has been tried for “petty hooliganism” (swearing and waving hands). The judge fined him 30 basic units (370 USD).
The trial started yesterday, but the judge Vital Syamyonau could not make a decision.
It became known from the Twitter of activist Raman Pratasevich that Mr Larychau, who had been released before the verdict, would not show up at the hearing.
On June 5, Hanna Novik, who had been detained together with Aleh Larychau, was fined 10 basic units (123 USD).
The artist and Hanna Novik were detained on the night of 4 June with paint and a stencil with the “White Legion” logo. The young people spent the weekend in the police station. As Aleh Larychau said later, riot policemen admitted that they had a job to follow him.
It wasn’t the first time that the curator of street-art-project ‘Signal’ was persecuted. In late April, he was punished by five days of arrest for “petty hooliganism”. Prior to that, he was sentenced to a fine of 590 USD.
