Eleven people have been charged with illegal picketing for staging a protest outside the Russian embassy in Minsk on April 2, the human rights centre Viasna reports.

The picketers – members of the opposition organisation ‘Young Front’ – protested against Russia’s imperial policies on so-called Day of Unity of the Peoples of Belarus and Russia. They were holding white-red-white flags and posters ‘Say No To Alliance With Gang’, ’Alliance With Aggressor Leads To War’, etc. Thy also chanted slogans ‘Russia Is War’, ‘Hands Off Ukraіne!’ ‘Putіn – To The Hague!’

Hardly had the picket started, police officers appeared and drew up protocols upon the participants of the action. As a result, all the protesters face charges under Art. 23.34 the Administrative Code (violation of the order of organizing or holding mass events).
