Activist fined for participating in March of Outraged Belarusians 2.0

A Minsk court has imposed a fine of BYN 920 on activist Leanid Kulakou for his participating in March of Outraged Belarusians 2.0 on 21 October.

“The tried me me for my civic stance, because I dared to voice what I actually thought. The authorities want us to think only in our own kitchen and discuss hot-button issues on the quiet in backstreets,” says Kulakou.

The activist asked the judge to sentence him to some days in prison, because he was short of money, but in vain – this time he will also have to pay to the state budget.

According to activist Maxim Vinyarski, the authorities will not prevent Kulakou from being engaged in social activism.

Leanid Kulakou has been held administratively liable for taking part in peaceful protests at least 10 times.
