Pavel Seviarynets denied parole


One of the leaders of the Belarusian Christian Democracy Party (BCD) Pavel Seviarynets has been denied early release on parole. On April 26, 2012 the decision was taken by the administration of special detention facility №7 in the village of Kuplin (Pruzhany district, Brest region), where the oppositionist is serving his sentence.

«Yesterday, during the sittings of the parole board my performance was sounded, it spoke for the good conduct of mine. But due to the refuse to admit guilt and repent I was denied parole,» the political prisoner said.

During the 2010 presidential election campaign the opposition activist was an agent of ex-presidential candidate Vital Rymasheuski. Pavel Seviarynets was arrested after the peaceful demonstration on the day of the presidential elections, December 19, 2010. Seviarynets was arrested on December 20, 2010 and later sentenced to 3 years of restriction of liberty for «organization and participation in actions that seriously disrupt civil order ».

On April 19, 2012 the political prisoner might have been released on parole. But pavel Seviarynets was turned down, though according to the staff of special detention facility №7 «he does his best to mend his way».
