Belarus to repay debt of $1.63 bln in 2012

In 2012 Belarus is due to pay down the debt of $ 1.63 bln whereas nothing more than $628.9 mln were repaid last year, web portal reports.

Our main loan provider is the International Monetary Fund which lent Belarus nearly $563 mln. The principal debt amounts to $ 429.1 mln. Besides, $ 133.9 mln should be added to its servicing.

External bonds ($ 440.8 mln) take the second place in the Belarusian debt burden. Chinese loans amount to $ 228.7 mln. 126.7 mln are required for the principal repayment.

Concerning loans originated by the Eurasian Economic Community and Russia Belarus is paying interest on them at the current moment. In 2012 $122 mln (the principal debt amounts to $92 mln) will be transferred to Venezuela. The World Bank, the USA and Germany will obtain $13.1 mln, $5 mln and $526,000 respectively.

«Belarus will experience the negative consequences of payments for credits in the second half of 2012. The principal payment will have to be made in the period of 2013-2014 and the debt burden will be doubled. Yet it is too early to call the situation critical,» expert Zmicer Kruk noted.
