Belarusian prime minister to be blacklisted by the EU


The European Union wants to add more names to the list of people with entry ban to the EU countries. The new sanctions will apply to the prime minister Mikhail Miasnikovich, deputy prime minister Uladzimir Siemashko and head of the border guards Ihar Rachowski – EU Observer wrote, quoting “diplomatic sources”.

The high-rank officials are accused of direct involvement in “a scheme to accumulate personal wealth by president Lukashenka”

Currently, there are 245 people banned from entering the EU territory. According to the EU Observers, embassies of the EU countries in Minsk are now working on expanding the list.

The decision to introduce such sanctions was taken during a EU summit of minister of foreign affairs, focused on the situation in Belarus, held in Brussels in January. At the beginning the list had 158 names, gradually expanding. Last time, it was updated in July with names of judges and prosecutors involved in trying dissident. The list also included Uladzimir Pieftsiew, described as a personal banker of Lukashenka.
