More people sentenced for solidarity rally


Another three protesters who were at the rally in solidarity with political prisoners were sentenced to arrest.

On Saturday, a dozen activists from European Belarus movement demonstrated at the October Square in Minsk. Their leader, Andrei Sannikov – a former presidential candidate, together with his chief of staff – Zmitser Bandarenka, are both still imprisoned.

Siarhej Lyskov and Nikita Kavalenka were sentenced to 10 days of arrest, while Aleksander Velitchenka will spend 15 days. Belarusian courts have already sentenced 11 people for violating law on mass events, majority went to arrest, some were fined.
