Poland restarts the dialog with Belarus?


Siarhei Martynau – head of Belarusian MFA has been invited to the Eastern Partnership summit scheduled at the end of September informed Radosław Sikorski – Polish foreign minister during the briefing after the meeting with Andrzej Poczbut. “Poland is waiting for the reply” – Polish minister added.

“In accordance with UE High Representative for External Policy, I sent an invitation for minister Martyanu to take part in Eastern Partnership summit in Warsaw” said Radoslaw Sikorski after meeting with the activist of Polish minority in Belarus and independent journalist Andrzej Poczobut, recently released from prison.

Asked whether Martynau accepted invitation Sikorski said – “We are waiting for reply”. He also repeated that the dialog with Belarusian authorities is to be reestablished only when all of the political prisoners will be released and absolved of all charges – “Poland wants Belarus to join the family of free, European nations” – he emphasized.
