A photo taken at the commission of Belsat TV near Hrodna prison has won the first award of the contest Belarus Press Photo-2014, category ‘News’.
The picture was made by independent photojournalist Aliaksandr Sayenka on August 28, 2013 when Zmitser Dashkevich, a prisoner of conscience and leader of youth opposition organisation Young Front, was released from jail. Over fifty persons – his relatives, friends and associates – were waiting for him at the walls of the prison.
The photographer managed to capture a very touching moment moment of the political prisoner’s taking his wife Nasta by the hand.
