Poland solidary with Belarus (video)

Cracow, Łodż, Warsaw and other Polish cities are holding days of solidarity with our country. Civil initiative Wolna Białoruś (Free Belarus) has organised debates ‘Do the authorities play hockey?’ in Warsaw. A special show is to take place on April 11 in the heart of the Polish capital, its headliner being prominent Belarusian musical band Lyapis Trubetskoy.

AGNIESZKA ROMASZEWSKA-GUZY, Belsat TV director:

‘As the concert ‘Solidary with Belarus’ is coetaneous with our channel, they were growing up together. We have always supported the concert, because it mobilises people. This event lets at least people in Warsaw see that the Belarusian issue is crucial.’

ANDRZEJ POCZOBUT, journalist:

‘The musicians who have the opportunity to perform need the concert; the Belarusian audience who coe to Warsaw need it; Poles who get the chance to know more about the independent Belarusian culture need it.’

A special feature of this year’s concert is expressing solidarity with our southern neighbour: even after Russia’s annexation of Crimea Ukraine still faces the seizure of its easters regions.

The event is expected to be one of the last concerts of the rock musicians: iconic Lyapis Trubetskoy announced they would drop out of concert activity on September 1, 2014.

All the indifferent people who would like to bolster solidarity are warmly invited to the event which is to start at 19.00 Warsaw time (Krakowskie Przedmieście, near the Bristol Hotel). If you don’t manage to turn up at the concert, watch it in a live television broadcast or online on belsat.eu (21:50, Minsk time)!
