‘God forbid we will detect any signs of corruption in your universities. Only a moron will not draw conclusions from the developments in Ukraine,’ the Belarusian President said at a government session.
‘The collapse in Ukraine was triggered by the economic collapse and rampant corruption. These are the two reasons that ruined the country,’ state-owned news agency BelTA quotes him. Mr Lukashenka expressed confidence that no matter what the state of economy is, corruption is the rust that will corrode everything.
‘We will reveal all the facts in the near future. It seems mass media have stopped talking about crooks and bribees,’ he promised.
Mr Lukashenka stressed that a lot of those, who used to occupy high-ranking posts, are now in prison. ‘And there are many of those. I will tell about that in the near future,’ he added.
It is noteworthy that the Belarusian leader seems to have adopted a wait-and-see approach to the events in Ukraine.
