Belarus's external public debt ratio: $1300 per capita


In 2013 the country took out $2.4 bn and paid $2 bn of its foreign debt.

Increased by nearly 20 per cent in 2013, Belarus’s external public debt has reached $12.1 bn, the Belarusian Finance Ministry reports. The debt’s limit budgeted amounts to $15.6 bn.

EurAsEc’s Anticrisis Fund tops the list of our loan suppliers ($880 mln), China ($553 mln), is ranked number two while Russia’s government granted $436 mln loan for the construction of a nuclear power station.

According to the executives of the Finance Ministry, the state is about to refinance some foreign loans to be paid in 2014, which is ‘of the utmost importance’. At the same time, one of the main credit providers, the Anticrisis Fund, took the decision to suspend the disbursement of the six tranche of its loan.
