Sad anniversary: bringing back post-election repression of protests


We are pleased to invite you to conference ‘Does Europe still remember Belarus?’

The meeting will be devoted to the third anniversary of the events in Independence Square (‘Ploshcha’) in Minsk, i.e. crackdown on the peaceful demonstration on December 19, 2010, when indifferent people took to the streets to protest against stealing of the presidential elections.

The following issues will be raised at the conference: the current political and human rights situation in Belarus; EU-Belarus relations; solidarity of Belarusian international community.

Agnieszka Romaszewska-Guzy (Belsat TV Director), Marek Migalski (MEP, a member of the delegation for relations with Belarus), Andrey Sannikau, an ex-presidential candidate and leader of civil campaign European Belarus, Natallia Radina, Charter’97 editor-in-chief, are expected to participate in the event.

The conference begins at 18.30 on Wednesday, December 18 at Warsaw University (auditorium B ‘Auditorium Maximum’, Krakowskie Przedmieście 26/28).

The meeting is being organised by scientific community Ars Politica, web portals Korespondent Wschodni and Nowa Politologia. News web site Charter’97, civil campaign European Belarus, magazine Nowa Europa Wschodnia and Belsat TV are media partners of the conference.
