Ukrainian activists protest at EaP summit

Two protesters were holding posters depicting catchy political slogans during the speech of Serhiy Arbuzov, Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine, at today’s EaP business forum in Vilnius.

The activists made their stand against the Ukrainian authorities’ decision to put an end to European integration and speed up a rapprochement process with Russia. ‘Are you afraid of Putin? Don’t be afraid of Putin!’ the posters said.

The action did not last long: a few minutes later guards discreetly bustled the protesters out the assembly hall.

Establishing an Association Agreement with Ukraine was to have become the main event of the summit, but a week ago the Ukrainian authorities announced European integration suspending.

The third Eastern Partnership summit is being held in Vilnius, Lithuania on 28-29 November 2013. It will bring together heads of state or government from the 28 EU member states with those of Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine.
