Belsat Fest: our channel's sixth anniversary

Belsat TV is organising a birthday party in Warsaw. Join us!

Belsat Fest, a celebration in the company of Belsat collaborators and friends, is to start on December 10 at 8 pm, its venue being club DZIK (Belwederska 44A, Warsaw).

Music bands Addis Abeba (‘rastafarians from across the Bug River’) and RSP (‘progressive psycho rock’) are expected to participate in the event. If you like Belsat in Polish, you will stand a fair chance to get a free admission to the party!

Belsat TV is the first independent channel in Belarus. Launched on December 10, 2007, International Human Rights Day, it has been broadcasting only in the Belarusian language. Formally the channel was established by virtue of an agreement signed by the Polish Foreign Ministry and Telewizja Polska S.A. (Polish Public Television) on joint long-term development and financing of Belsat TV, its director being Agnieszka Romaszewska-Guzy.

Belsat has broken the state-owned television’s monopoly on reporting news. It is one of the reasons why the channel and its journalists are being harassed by the authorities.

According to the latest public opinion survey carried out by by Zerkalo-Info, an independent centre for sociological surveys, over half (53 %) of satellite TV viewers state that they watch Belsat TV programs. A number of viewers possessing a satellite dish equals to appr. 1,760 000 and accounts for 22 % of adult television audience in Belarus.

Belsat TV has high levels of credibility with its audience. According to the survey, almost three quarters (72 %) give credence to Belsat programs.
