No money, no film

The 2014 World Ice Hockey Championship is not far off, but foreign TV channels are not in rush to promote our country. According to Cheslau Shulga, Deputy Minister of Sports and Tourism, Belarus has no funds for making a quality promotional film.

“$500,000 is needed to only make a good promo-film. But our financial resources are limited,” he said.

The films promoting a country are a very effective form of advertising, he stressed. “But at the moment there are no means and we failed to find any sponsors. But in the future we will try to solve this problem,” the official promised.

In 2012 the Foreign Ministry did produce a film that was to give the country wider publicity but it was distibuted only on DVDs.
