This Country Called Belarus: trilinguar factbook

Now our neighbours and friends in the East and West stand the chance of reading this book: ‘This Country Called Belarus’ by writer Uladzimir Arloŭ and artist Žmicier Hierasimovič has been published in Belarusian, Russian and English.

“Lately I have autographed a lot of English-language copies of ‘This Country…’, its translation having been made by Jim Dingley,” reputed Belarusian writer Uladzimir Arloŭ said.

“For me it was the way full of new discoveries concerning not only the history of Belarus but the English language as well,” Mr Dingley stressed.

One can fetch the book along abroad as a good gift for their foreign friends. It contains more than two thousand illustrations, including unique manuscript miniatures, mediaeval engravings and rare photographs. Many of the illustrations have never previously been published.

“We were in search of alternative illustrations. The ones we applied earlier would never have given life to our book. And we were looking for new, little-known ones,” artist Žmicier Hierasimovič said.
