Communists celebrating October revolution anniversary

Belarusian communists have laid flowers to the monument to Vladimir Lenin in Independence Square in Minsk. There were dozens of people participating in the action, including students and schoolchildren.

In Belarus November, 7th is a national holiday; a gala concert and communists’ meeting being scheduled today. A memorial tablet consecrated to the forming of the first Belarusian Soviet of workers’ and peasants’ deputies is to be opened.

Not all Belarusians regard the October revolution anniversary as a cause for joy. On the night of the 6th/7th of November activists of Young Front, a youth opposition organization, expressed their protest by pouring valerian over the monument to Lenin in Independence Square.
